World Book Day
Children were invited to join the fun at school on World Book Day earlier this month. They dressed as their favourite character from their favourite book, to promote our love for reading. To kick start the day we had an assembly finding out all about our Author of the term, Roald Dahl. The children were then set a challenge to make up their own story using The Story Maker online.
Children then completed various activities within their classrooms, including word searches, exploring the World Book Day website, sharing their favourite books and completing book reviews on books they read in the classroom.
For homework, the children had the opportunity to enter a competition to design their very own book token, from which the winner will have their design published and in book stores before Christmas. Lots of children have entered the competition with some very good ideas, so fingers crossed the winner will be one of our children!
To conclude the day we gathered for an assembly to share the stories the children created in class for them to be judged by Mr Reed. The prize for the winning class is a selection of brand new books, however the winner is yet to be decided!
