Hawthorn Class Art and Music Fun!

Year 1 were extremely lucky to have a specialist Music Teacher come into school to teach the children all about different forms of Art. The children took part in a range of art based activity throughout the day including drawing portraits and learning to play the chime bars, concluding with a performance at the end of the day to the Year 2 children. Hawthorn Class Trip to Whisby Nature Park!

Year One have had a fantastic term looking at the topic Enchanted Woodland. As part of our topic, we were lucky enough to go to Whisby Nature Park to their very own Enchanted Wood. The Hawthorn Class had a fantastic day searching for Stumpy the Wood Elf and making their very own fairy houses.  

Oaks and Willows Firefighter Visit!

We have been very lucky in Reception to have a visit from our firefighters, Matt and Craig. They told us all about their special protective clothes and how we can keep safe, especially on Bonfire Night.The firefighters told us to stop, drop and roll if ever our clothes catch fire. We then had a look at the fire engine and all the equipment, and sat inside! It was very exciting and good to learn about keeping safe!

Football Victory!

Last half term, the Wygate Park Academy football team took in part in a home fixture versus Clough & Risegate. The squad showed amazing heart and team work and saw out a 3-1 victory with everyone playing a huge part in the win.  

Year 6 Clay Heart Models

Year 6 have been extremely busy this term learning about the human circulatory system. To aid and support understanding of how the heart works the children made clay models, which they then used to write an explanation text. 

Year 2 Trip To Tattershall Castle

As part of our topic, ‘Towers, Tunnels and Turrets’, the Year 2 children visited Tattershall Castle. The children explored the six floors of the castle climbing all 149 steps of the spiral staircase! They enjoyed hearing all about how the basement was used to store food in the days before fridge freezers and seeing the amazing views from the battlements at the very top of the castle.
